Holy Cross Parish had its beginnings early in the 1920s in the minds and hearts of the English speaking Catholics of Côte St. Paul and Ville Émard. They felt themselves able to support a Church and a Parish priest.

The founder and first priest was Rev. Michael O'Brien and the first mass was celebrated by Rev O'Brien on December 20th 1925.

The Parish was served by diocesan priests until 1944. That same year, archbishop Charbonneau requested the Fathers of Holy Cross to take charge of the Parish - many pastors came and went over the years generously serving the needs of the people until the late 1970s. Due to lack of personnel for the Holy Cross Church, the Parish was once again placed in the care of the diocesan priests of Montreal.

Holy Cross was always active and vibrant helping many families and school community groups. Now, in its 80th year of existence, the face of the Parish has changed, resulting in a multicultural mix of English, Italian, Polish, French and Filipino parishioners, among others. There are approximately 300 families in the Parish.

Also, a seniors residence erected on Church property in 1986 enhances the identity of the parish.
